Attracting Visitors section updated

I hope you all had a happy Christmas and are getting ready for your new year celebrations. Happy 2012 to you all. I hope you have a good year.

I hope to get my business launched in the new year and as I mentioned in my last past, I have been busy beavering away at my web site. I've restructured the site and have created lots of new pages on the BiziLizi website. I've researched how to attract visitors to a website and spent time looking at search engines and what you need to do to get listed or indexed by them. My website page on this subject is quite lengthy, but I hope you find it helpful. I'm now off to submit my website to the search engines and hope they'll notice BiziLizi.co.uk soon.

The next steps for my project are to investigate how to increase search engine rankings. I'll then refocus on some of the essential aspects of my business website like receiving online payments. I'm hoping all this preparatory work on search engine listings and rankings will be time well spent for when my business website is launched in 2012.

Thanks for all your feedback. It's been really helpful.

Update on progress

First of all thanks to all of you who are following this Blog, together with the progress I am making with my new online business.  I've received some really helpful feedback this week from many of you and I am beavering away behind the scenes to update the BiziLizi website. I'm trying to make the pages less wordy and am working on making the site more search engine friendly. I hope to be able to re-publish the site with lots more content in the next few days. I've learnt a lot this week that I've incorporated into the site and I'm trying to respond to your suggestions too. I'll let you know when the updated site is ready for you to take a look at again.

Many thanks to all of you for your support and helpful comments.

Website Posts

These are the posts that were originally on my BiziLizi website. They've been copied to this new Blog so that you can see my progress so far with setting up my online business. From now on all updates will only be made to this Blog.

1 Dec 2011 Linked-in
I’ve updated my Linked-in profile and provided a link to this website. Hopefully this will generate some visitors to the site. I’ve also contacted a few friends and asked for their comments on the assistance with testing my website. Hopefully some of you will make it this far.  Let me know if you manage to get to this BLOG.
29 Nov 2011 Business website Pen2Paper.co holding page is launched
I’ve made a start on the website that will be used at the end of this project to sell my 12 part course that teaches ‘How to write books for children’. The site is called Pen2paper.CO. (not .co.uk and not .com, just a simple .CO). At the moment, it’s just a holding page to inform visitors the site is being developed. I’ll work on this alongside the BiziLizi project, although it will remain a holding page until the project and the Pen2Paper website is completed and ready for business.
28 Nov 2011 Website Creation Basics & Making the BiziLizi website Search Engine Friendly
I’ve started to explain the basics of how to create a website and make it available on the web for people to access as well as how to make a website search engine friendly. This is explained on the links from the Website Basics page.  I’ve also tried to explain how the theory has been applied to my BiziLizi website so far.

I was conscious that I had introduced some terminology that maybe confusing, so I’ve started a Glossary. Please let me know if there is anything you don't understand or something that needs further explanation and I'll try to include it on this new page. Or, if a word has been used that you feel should be included in the Glossary, just email me and I'll do my best to make sure it's covered here.

There’s also a Site Map to help you find your way around the site. Hope it helps.

25 Nov 2011 BiziLizi website is Launched
The ‘BiziLizi’ web site has been launched on the internet with it’s first 3 pages consisting of the HOME page, The Project page and this Blog.

Bizi-Lizi is born

Once upon a time there was a girl who had spent her entire career working in 'Information Technology' (IT). She enjoyed her work, but needed a bit more variety. She also loved reading books and was always making up stories in her head. She wanted to set up her own business and do something different from her normal day job. So, she put all these facts into her 'Ideas Mixing Bowl' to see what she could make. After lots of mixing, she decided to set up an online business selling courses, books and information. The first course would be about writing books for children. Despite a lifetime in IT, she had no real experience with websites, had never used Facebook and had certainly never written a Blog. What a dinosaur !

That dinosaur is me, Liz. I think I'll be busy over the next few months. I'll be a very Bizi Lizi.

I soon realised there is a mountain to climb and lots to learn to set up this business. There must be others, like myself, who are setting up an online business and need a helping hand. So why not write the story of my new business as it develops. I decided to create a website and let others learn from the knowledge I gain. Hopefully they will avoid some of the mistakes I will no doubt make along the way. I'll record all the technical stuff I learn and add links to useful sources of information.

And so the idea of Bizi Lizi was created.

The website www.BiziLizi.co.uk and this blog www.bizi-lizi.blogspot.com will be updated with progress as the business develops.

www.BiziLizi.co.uk has been created for others to use and learn from. I'm hoping that, in time, visitors to the site will be able to help each other and that it will become a useful source of information for anyone wanting to start up a similar business or any business with an online presence.

I hope my story might encourage some of you to follow your dreams and be brave enough to start your own business. Or, just follow my story over the coming months to see how the story unfolds. I’d like to get visitors to my site so please invite your friends, family and colleagues to follow my Blog and take a look at my website. I'd like to think it was both entertaining and informative.

This is my first attempt at using Blogger to write a Blog, so please bear with me. Initially I was using a page on my website as a Blog. You can read why I've changed to using Blogger on www.BiziLizi.co.uk . I'll copy the first few posts that were on the website to this Blog - these will be my next post.

I hope you enjoy my story and in time will be in touch with me with any comments, feedback or just good luck wishes.  I think I'm going to need them.

Bye for now.
